This amazing feature documentary by Donna Davies had us performing heavy metal and progressive metal!! Our arms were tested to their limits playing Judas Preist and Slayer-type riffs to compliment the astounding images documenting the life of Hollywood practical effects guru, Greg Nicotero. SCGC Film Scoring Masterclass
A Case Study : “The Chocolate Farmer” & “Snow”
Panelists: Rohan Fernando and Asif Illyas, Shehab Illyas & guest musicians

This “fly-on-the-wall” session will showcase the various aspects of the composer/director relationship when it comes to scoring music to film. By using Rohan Fernando’s two feature films, both scored by Asif Illyas, the masterclass will take the participants through the process of creating an original film score. The two films cover the span of drama to documentary, thus requiring different approaches to the craft. Rohan and Asif will discuss the various stages, from spotting session through tracking to final mix, and use multitrack and visuals to re-create the construction of various cues from both films. They will also use live performances and re-create music cues while presenting the process and it’s associated challenges. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see the unraveling of movie magic and learn some tricks of the trade. Presented by the Screen Composers Guild of Canada, Long & McQuade, and Atlantic Film Festival.
